This weekend I was so busy studying for finals that I did not have any time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo; I wish it would have landed on a Saturday instead of a Sunday that way I could participate in most of the festivities. I guess there is always next year for me with bells on.
I wanted to lower calories this week so I decided that I would start with breakfast this morning; many times I have huge smoothies for breakfast that are about 400 calories or more. I have no clue how I ended up drinking 400 calorie smoothies but it is possible. This is why I have decided breakfast would be 300 calories or less, I was looking for breakfast meals that were 300 calories or less all day yesterday. I found a few but known of them were easy or simple so I am going to see what I can come up with that is easy and quick.
1 banana- 100 calories
3/4th cup cereal- 80 calories
1 cup soy milk- 90 calories
1 boil egg -70 calories Total Calories for breakfast: 340
Well I did not land the 300 calorie mare for breakfast today but I will try and keep my calories at the 300 mark for breakfast tomorrow.
Lately I have been under the weather; my dairy allergy has actually made me come down with flu like symptoms. I have been in bed for most off the week, I had no clue that certain snacks that contain milk products can get you sick worse than just eating dairy directly.
I decided to cut out all dairy from my diet including eggs (not dairy related), I miss yogurt but I really wanted to get over my cold quickly. I have finally gotten over it so I decided to include eggs back into my diet again.
The weather has been warm, so I have been drinking smoothies for breakfast and sometimes lunch, most of my calories are coming from popsicles as well. I know I should not eat so many empty calories but 102 has hit, so I gotta stay hydrated and keep cool.
Lately I have been having odd snacks instead of nuts or fruit. I will eat a boil egg and toast, tuna with lettuce, or even tortilla with a slice of meat. I love snacks so something I will usually have for breakfast or lunch I will have for a snack. My snacks have become odd for the time of the day. I am enjoying them since I have lost my appetite which I am hoping will come back soon.

I took one of my midterm tests today so I did not have time to post most of my meals. I did not have time to eat while I was testing so I miss my eating schedule and by the time I was done with the test I was starving… I decided to get a turkey burger from Carl’s Jr. no-mayo and a side salad no cheeses or dressing. I looked up the calorie content when I got home and it was around 490 calories very high in sodium… I guess it was one of those meals that you think are healthy but it’s not, well you live and you learn… Next time I end up in a fast food joint from hunger pains I will get a salad no dressing, and I will not feel guilty about it. I guess this has been a crazy week with midterms my food take has been all weird, but at least I do continue to eat breakfast. I am having more fruit late at night I cannot wait for midterms to be over…
I am happy it is Monday I am posting most of my meals for the entire month if I have time. I am so happy football is finally over no more cooking for a large number of people for a few months, and I don’t half to keep telling myself no seconds whatever you do leave that chili and cornbread alone; I guess it worked because I did not go back for seconds. I am trying to stay motivated so I am looking at all the great clothes that are not spandex I hope to wear this summer. However food is on my mind 24-7 (I love food) . Let me not ramble about my obsession with food and get to the yummy meals I ate today.
I have one more meal and it will be a smoothie I am not as hungry as I thought I would be so I am going to keep it light tonight if I switch up I will let you know.
Getting ready for the weekend I am so excited to sleep until I can’t anymore, I am also excited that school is finally starting for me next week. It is so weird you’re happy when school is over but then you cannot wait to go back; I have such a love and hate relationship with school. My courses will be difficult this year I decided to take a few science classes which I am not looking forward to the work load seems difficult with lots of studying; I am thinking about a major in nutrition so I guess we will see if I can make it out of the class without crying. I always talk about being a big emotional eater and I am a huge one especially in scenarios like this; I am hoping that the spring semester does not balloon my weight from all the anxiety. I think I am going to stalk the fridge with lots of celery so when I have a panic attack I can run to the fridge and start crunching. I am going to start writing my meals for the week so I can be prepared in advance, especially since I have a lot of science labs this year which will call for extra late nights. What keeps me focus for now is remembering that my bio and chem classes are only 16 weeks and it will go so fast summer will be here before we know it…
Today I am going to have lunch with one of my close friends she is in Arizona on a business trip and wanted to hang out before she left. Of course I can never turn down a good time (especially when foods involved) and I know she just loves to go out and eat whenever we decide to do something. I had a juice for breakfast since I knew she would find some lovely place to take me where the portions were hefty and I would splurge to no end in sight.
My breakfast juice had 6 carrots and three oranges; I wanted to make my juice into a smoothie but I wanted to make it a light breakfast this morning. I am hoping that I do not eat my heart out but if I do I will have my green concoction ready to go for tomorrow morning.
Well I am happy to say that I am able to wear large shirts again which makes me excited. I was wearing XL and making my way to double XL but I guess I have reversed that trend. The shirt looks pretty nice on me but not on my arms I never understand why in certain areas it is harder to loose fat. I have major problems with fat in my thigh areas and my arms but I am not going to give up or complaint, because I am just so happy that I can actually fit into a large shirt and it is pretty loose.
I have been drinking a lot of coconut water lately so I have so much coconut meat and nothing to do with it I decided to put it in my smoothie today. This smoothies was very creamy and had a buttery taste this smoothie would make great porridge. Young Thai Coconut Smoothie: ¾ cup young thai coconut meat, 1 cup almond milk unsweetened, ¾ cup oatmeal, a pinch of sugar, and pineapple for topping. Serve in a bowl and enjoy.
I have been obsessed with Korean dramas lately I mean I am super obsessed. Once I am home from work and I am done studying I like to sit and watch them until it is time to go to bed. Country boy assumes that I am watching soaps like days of our lives just in a different language. I wouldn’t take it that far but they can be very addicting especially on the weekends when everyone loves to watch television. If I don’t set a schedule I can literally sit and watch them for about 6 hours. I am watching a really good one right now called 49 days, and I am almost to the end well I am in the middle and have cried twice. I will keep you guys up dated on what happens. I guess you can say that Korean dramas have become my guilty pleasure. If you would like to watch 49 days the show is on hulu for free or drama fever.com which will send you to hulu for free. Today has marked five more days left of my 30 day smoothie challenge and I made an apple banana smoothie with a hint of pineapple. It is early in the morning and I have already gotten 2.5 serving of fruit from just one smoothie. Apple Mango Smoothie: ¾ cup apple sauce unsweetened, ½ cup pineapple, 1 large banana, and ½ cup of oatmeal. I can tell you after drinking this smoothie this morning I am very full.
The weekend is upon us and it is time to give it all I got! I struggle with eating right on the weekend all the tempting things I want to eat; however it is not worth it if I get really sick for the rest of the week and the scale refuses to move. I am now getting my game plan ready for the weekend and will defiantly get my juice on. I am going to make this a weekend thing (for now), so I can get in to the habit of adding more greens to my diet on the weekends. I have been lacking eating more greens on the weekends and if I cannot eat them it will be easier to drink them. I am going to fight to stay a healthy me this weekend.
I had a yummy smoothie today chocolate almond butter smoothie and yes it was good. I would not use oatmeal in this smoothie; if I make it again it changes the flavor, but I half to bulk up my smoothies to stay satisfied and happy. No one wants to see the hungry monster come around :). I used 1 banana, ½ cup oatmeal, 1 cup almond milk, 1tbs almond butter, and 2 tsp coco powder.
I have no clue what number my smoothie day challenge is for today but I will find out before tomorrow’s smoothie. I did make one smoothie for breakfast Sunday but I forgot to photograph it so I will not count that smoothie in my total. I lost one pound this week which made me upset but it was also a relief; my weight lost had stalled for the past 4 weeks due to my weekend binges. Who knew weekends could have a major effect on weight lost. Now I just half to make it through the holidays I think I will be ok if I can stay motivated. If I do go out it will be sushi because I love sushi and I never thought about (until now), but sushi is really low in calories and if you choose the right item you can eat a nice portion without feeling guilty.
Now for the smoothie today I made a smoothie in a bowl it was thick and creamy and warm for a fall morning. I used 1 banana, ½ cup of applesauce, ½ cup of oatmeal cooked in unsweetened almond milk.
Does anyone like Korean dramas?? I am really addicted to them and I am watching one on Hulu now called My Lovely Sammy Soon. It’s official I am a Korean Drama Lover 🙂 .
