Rice Cake Cereal

Savy Naturalista, NaturalistaThe texture of this cereal reminds me of oatmeal with a bit of a crunch, rice cake cereal is one of my favorite eats. When I am sick of oatmeal and toast I will usually make it as a cereal in the morning. It also makes a wonderful snack because I know most of us always have a package of rice cakes on hand.
I used soy milk today, but it works great with any milk I have used almond and coconut milk in the past. The toppings you can put on the cereal are unlimited; I usually stick to my favorites, peanut butter, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and banana. If you have topping that you enjoy you should use it, rice cake cereal is so easy and versatile any topping is great in my book. 🙂

Yogurt Jook

This is a perfect mid-day meal that will keep you full all day long you may not want to eat your last three meals. One of my favorite go to recipes yogurt jook, I am in love with this recipe I cannot begin to tell you how easy the recipe will be. It puts Rachel Rays 30 minutes meals to shame (I love her). One of the perks about this meal there is protein and a carb yay!!!

Yogurt Jook: 6 oz. container of your favorite yogurt, ¼ cup of dried oats cooked in ½ cup of water probably less. Mixed oats and water, put in the microwave for about 5 minutes or less. Watch it carefully it will cook quickly, mine took 3 minutes. Once it is done add the yogurt and enjoy.

Today was a very busy day but I am making steps to a healthier me, I ate too many rice cakes and date today. I swear rice cakes are like crack you just need another hit… I am looking forward to the weekend hump days can be such a drag, but lets keep are goals in the right direction…

Lets Talk Tuesdays

I am going to start up my weekly rambles again, but I will do it just one day out of the week. I decided to start Let’s talk Tuesday’s is a bit of a ramble about what is going on in the health industry that we all love to talk about, I also have a few topics that I obsess over supplements, low calorie foods, and even more food because we all know I am addicted to food. I will have weekly polls so if there is a topic you would like me to ramble about we can have the polls decide.
On another topic besides food and rambles; spring has finally arrived here in AZ and everything looks so green! Lady bugs are flying everywhere; my basil plant and my marigolds did not survive the winter, so I am going to try my hand at growing them again I hope I can have a little success, I live in a little town house where the trees block the sun so most of my plants get more shade an no sun at all. I don’t have a green thumb but I am thinking that if I can start growing fresh herbs I am one step in the right direction.

Lean Green Strawberry Smoothie

When it comes to greens I can tell you I am not always in the mood to eat them, but if I can sneak them into my smoothie recipes then I am one step in the right direction. I am still working on my protein smoothies; everyone I have made does not do well in photographs or has too much of an egg flavor. I am going to dub myself the egg white queen pretty soon; all my smoothies are turning into me buying loads of egg whites. I have become obsessed but I must and I will make the ultimate protein smoothie that will be outta this world…

Smoothie Blues

I have a confession to make, I have been buying most of my smoothies a Jamba Juice, yes I know this week was supposed to be a week of creating smoothies that would kick start spring, but I have not been in the mood to get creative in the kitchen. I think I am still shell shock from my midterms I forgot how to be creative. I am going to try and do smoothies twice a week next week. This means more smoothie recipes yay!!!

This smoothie was not very good I am trying to get more protein in my diet; and well let’s just say it was more of an eggy slushy, I won’t let you suffer from this horrendous drink by providing the recipe. I thought the colors were amazing if my hand was steady, however I did drink it though.

Blueberry Smoothie in a Bowl

Savynaturalista, naturalista
Not another blueberry smoothie, but I just can’t help myself I am in love with blue berries I would love to eat the whole bag but I am in know mood for brain freeze. I just got home from class and wanted a quick snack that would last me three hours while I hit the books, so I added oats to the bowl.

Easy Breezy Blue Berry Smoothie

I know I have been M.I.A but I needed to get my thoughts together, I have not been making the best food choices over the past few days luckily I did not put on any weight from my unhealthy meals. I guess it goes to say one meal can’t kill over a few days, but a few meals over a month can pack on some serious pounds. Replacing a smoothie with a meal can be the trick I need to kick start my week, because the week is not over yet. Blueberries are not in season, but the frozen aisles have been packed with yummy blueberries and strawberries, I only buy my berries from U.S.A or Canada and there product has been packed in the frozen aisles even cherries. I like my berries sweet that is why I buy from these countries. I can not wait to eat fresh berries in the summer, fresh winter berries seem to be tart and sour to me.

Spring Shakeup

Savy naturalista, Naturalista Well Spring is here and I already have summer on the brain especially with the sun setting later every day. I am excited that midterms are out of the way that all I can think about now are smoothies. It seems everyone starts the beginning of the year with smoothie challenges; but not me it was cold as ice and I was still in the mood for some good ole comfort. Now that it is a little warmer I decided that I am going to replace one of my meals with a smoothie for a week. This was my attempt at a green smoothie but of course it did not come out looking green, like all the beautiful smoothies that I see on pinterest. That darn lettuce, am I the only one who puts lettuce in there smoothies instead of spinach? I also used my food processor (yes I go a new one) to make my smoothies instead of a blender. I am trying so hard not to accumulate so many kitchen appliances so for now I will hold off on a blender.
