Healthy Halloween

Healthy Halloween Today is Halloween and normally I would have 4 bags of candy to pass out, but this year I wanted it to be totally different. Last Halloween I only past out about 2.5 bags of candy and I am a shame to admit this but I ate the rest of the candy. This year was not going to be like last I did want to pass out some healthy treats but I could not find any that I would eat; I did not want to waste my money on passing out any treats that I felt were not healthy at all. I decided that I would just not pass out candy this year.

I would attempt to make pumpkin pudding with a pink pumpkin I bought to support breast cancer. The pumpkin pudding was delicious and it was fun to make (it was vegan), but let me tell you it was difficult to get that big pumpkin open! It took me 12 minutes to finally slice it open what a work out! It was my first time ever cutting a pumpkin open and I think I see pumpkins in my future. I am going to have some fun with pumpkins now that the holiday season coming up. With Halloween almost over I am happy to have made it through work and tonight without any unhealthy temptation…

Banana Apple Smoothie

I have been obsessed with Korean dramas lately I mean I am super obsessed. Once I am home from work and I am done studying I like to sit and watch them until it is time to go to bed. Country boy assumes that I am watching soaps like days of our lives just in a different language. I wouldn’t take it that far but they can be very addicting especially on the weekends when everyone loves to watch television. If I don’t set a schedule I can literally sit and watch them for about 6 hours. I am watching a really good one right now called 49 days, and I am almost to the end well I am in the middle and have cried twice. I will keep you guys up dated on what happens. I guess you can say that Korean dramas have become my guilty pleasure. If you would like to watch 49 days the show is on hulu for free or drama fever.com which will send you to hulu for free. If you do not mind subtitles you will be hooked as well.

Banana Apple Smoothie

Today has marked five more days left of my 30 day smoothie challenge and I made an apple banana smoothie with a hint of pineapple. It is early in the morning and I have already gotten 2.5 serving of fruit from just one smoothie. Apple Mango Smoothie: ¾ cup apple sauce unsweetened, ½ cup pineapple, 1 large banana, and ½ cup of oatmeal. I can tell you after drinking this smoothie this morning I am very full.

Apple Mango Smoothie

Once I sip this delicious smoothie I will have 5 smoothies left before my 30 day smoothie challenge is over. I cannot believe 30 days could go by so quickly and I still have so many flavors I would like to try. Drinking smoothies makes me feel like I am at an ice-cream shop and the choices are unlimited. I will start adding one smoothie to my morning breakfast during the week for a light refresher. Lately I have been addicted to apple sauce and I have been adding it to everything from salads to baked goods, so why not added to my morning smoothies; since I have so much of it I think I will have a lot of apple smoothies for the rest of the week.

Apple Mango Smoothie

Apple Mango Smoothie: ½ cup unsweetened cinnamon apple sauce, 1cup frozen mango, ½ cup unsweetened almond milk, and ½ cup of oatmeal (bulk it up). Blend and enjoy with a cute straw if one is available

Fall Smoothie

The weekend went by quickly and I half not checked the scale yet I am having anxiety attacks about stepping on the scale. I guess I always want to see the right number and if I don’t I get so disappointed; I have some serious scale issues I need to work on. I am thinking about not using the scale anymore but it’s like addiction I half to step on it every day I really need help. I did a pretty good job this weekend staying on the right track even though it is fall and since it is so cold I always want to eat more. The weather is cold and storm Sandy is brewing on the east coast I hope all of you and your families who live on the east coast are ok and stay safe.

Fall Smoothie

Fall has finally arrived and it is quite cold and very dry in AZ so this fall smoothie has all the wonderful flavors of fall. I used 1 persimmon, 2 bananas next time I will use 1 banana (too much of a banana flavor), ½ cup of oatmeal, and a pinch of pumpkin spice. Blend to perfection serve in a bowl and enjoy.

Weekend Routine

I am lately trying to get in the hang of having a routine on the weekends. It can be very hard staying on a weekend routine but if I want to lose fat I half to keep up with my routine. This weekend was very backwards I would normally juice on Saturday and Sunday I would have a smoothie for breakfast but let’s just say that did not go according to plan. I woke up pretty late Saturday so I went out for a bike ride and made a smoothie when I got home. Sunday I had quinoa for breakfast when I realized that I had not had my juice this weekend, so I had a juice for lunch with a few tortilla chips and salsa. They were homemade by country boy of course apparently he has a recipe that was to die for and I had to try it; I agreed to try them as long as he would bake the chips instead of fry them. I must say they were pretty good shockingly:).

Green Juice

This Green Concoction: 6 celery stalks, a bunch of spinach, ½ leftover cucumber that never got ate, 2 plums that were dying, and 1 red juicy pear. I love a juice concoction what’s your favorite?

Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie

The weekend is upon us and it is time to give it all I got! I struggle with eating right on the weekend all the tempting things I want to eat; however it is not worth it if I get really sick for the rest of the week and the scale refuses to move. I am now getting my game plan ready for the weekend and will defiantly get my juice on. I am going to make this a weekend thing (for now), so I can get in to the habit of adding more greens to my diet on the weekends. I have been lacking eating more greens on the weekends and if I cannot eat them it will be easier to drink them. I am going to fight to stay a healthy me this weekend.

Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie

I had a yummy smoothie today chocolate almond butter smoothie and yes it was good. I would not use oatmeal in this smoothie; if I make it again it changes the flavor, but I half to bulk up my smoothies to stay satisfied and happy. No one wants to see the hungry monster come around :). I used 1 banana, ½ cup oatmeal, 1 cup almond milk, 1tbs almond butter, and 2 tsp coco powder.

Coconut Water Smoothie

Today I decided to experiment with coconut water in my smoothie because it is high in potassium and I seem not to meet my requirements for daily potassium. I must say coconut is the most versatile fruit and nut that I have ever met! There are others but coconut is just amazing and I guess that is why it is a very popular. If I ever move to an island I hope I am surrounded by young thai and brown coconut trees. The possibilities of coconuts are endless.

Coconut Water Smoothie

I used all the water in one coconut, 2 bananas, ½ cup mango, ½ cup pineapple. This smoothie was is very sweet it would make a wonderful snack. I also had ½ cup oatmeal and one boil egg. I did not want to add oatmeal to this smoothie it would have changed the flavor and texture so I had it as a side dish :).

Get up and go Smoothie

Today I half to be at work super early so I will make this smoothie pretty simple and quick; because even though some days can be very busy that is no excuse for me to not eat healthy. I know I am going to be staving later so I am going to pack a lot of snacks because I love snacking. I am going to bring apple chips, a small baggy of sunflower seeds, one persimmon, some celery stalks cut up, and lots of water (of course) I will not be grumpy if I am snacking :).

Get up and go smoothie

For my smoothie today I used 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup mango, and 1 banana, I am going to get five serving of fruit today most days I get three or for today it will be five yay!!! that was quick and easy :).

Carrot Smoothie in a Bowl

Good Morning readers, today is the 19th day of the smoothie challenge and I cannot believe it is almost over. With only ten days left to the finish line I have had so many smoothies; that I thought I would be tired of smoothies but I am not burn out yet. Which is pretty shocking but the variety of fruits and vegatables that can be added to smoothies is endless. I guess I have had some smoothie highlights one of my biggest smoothie highlights being; one of my smoothies was a big hit on pintrest for a moment in time which blew my mind because I am not on pintrest. I guess everyone loves a tropical smoothie even in the winter 🙂 .

Carrot Smoothie in a Bowl

I had a carrot smoothie in a bowl today with a pinch of cinnamon and a hint of vanilla; very creamy and since the weather is somewhat chili in the morning it was a great way to warm me up. I used 1 banana, ½ cup cooked oatmeal, 2 large carrots chopped and cooked, ½ cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 pinch of cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon of vanilla.

Smoothe Challenge Day Forgotten??

I have no clue what number my smoothie day challenge is for today but I will find out before tomorrow’s smoothie. I did make one smoothie for breakfast Sunday but I forgot to photograph it so I will not count that smoothie in my total. I lost one pound this week which made me upset but it was also a relief; my weight lost had stalled for the past 4 weeks due to my weekend binges. Who knew weekends could have a major effect on weight lost. Now I just half to make it through the holidays I think I will be ok if I can stay motivated. If I do go out it will be sushi because I love sushi and I never thought about (until now), but sushi is really low in calories and if you choose the right item you can eat a nice portion without feeling guilty.

Smoothie in a bowl

Now for the smoothie today I made a smoothie in a bowl it was thick and creamy and warm for a fall morning. I used 1 banana, ½ cup of applesauce, ½ cup of oatmeal cooked in unsweetened almond milk.
Does anyone like Korean dramas?? I am really addicted to them and I am watching one on Hulu now called My Lovely Sammy Soon. It’s official I am a Korean Drama Lover 🙂 .
