Smoothie In a Jar

Smoothie in a Jar Today workout was interval training for about 16 minutes what a killer. I was“ so excited to get done and start my smoothie. I am so obsessed with smoothies so I decided to have another one today. It’s just a quick way to start the day off right.
I put my smoothie in a jar today. I like the jar better than the bowl because I can use a straw making it a lot easier to go down. I am excited with all the goodies that can be added to my smoothies. Today I added 1 plum, 1 nectarine, 1 banana, ¼ cup of oatmeal, and 1 tbsp. of ground flax seeds. I can honestly say this is the easiest way to get all your fruits in for the day guilt free.


Smoothie in a Bowl Take # 1

Oh how I love smoothies but they are even better in a bowl a big bowl of delicious goodness. I am obsessed with Robeks smoothie bowls but they can get pretty pricey, and when you’re on a budget that can add up quickly. I really wanted one today so I decided to try and make one this morning for breakfast. I was super excited about trying to create my own smoothie bowl… Well…. Let’s just say that was a bust.
I used 3 plums, 1 banana, ½ cup of oatmeal, 1 tbsp. of almond butter. I did not use any almond milk I wanted a thick smoothie. My smoothie bowl was very thick more like porridge not a smoothie. It did not taste like the ones at Robecks it had more of a tart taste with banana flavor. I would say the good thing about smoothie bowls you get more fruits and veggies in to your diet. I really doubt I would eat three plums and banana in one sitting but I did in my smoothie bowl.

Flax Seed Oatmeal

Flax Seed Meal I decided to add more flax seeds to my diet I am obsessed with all the health benefits… The problem I was using whole flax seeds instead of ground flax seeds so I was not getting the full benefits. I added 1 tsp. to my oatmeal this morning since oatmeal can be paired with almost anything and the taste was not bad at all. I thought it was going to have a horrible taste but it didn’t. I am going to try to find more creative ways to add ground flax-seeds to my meals.

Lentils and Rice

This weekend I had a craving for Middle Eastern food, but when you live in the suburbs it can be hard trying to find an authentic restaurant to carter to your taste. I guess I should be happy with the sushi joint up the road and not complaint as much. I wanted some Tabouli and started to look up recipes for the dish; when I came across a very easy recipe for lentils and rice.
Mujaddara is the name of the dish and I got the recipe from mamaslebanesekitchen. I made a few changes I added salt, and cumin; next time I try it I may add curry powder. I cooked 1 cup of lentils and once they were done I drained them, and add more water to the pot with one cup of rice. I added the lentils back to the pot with the rice. I used too much water so I once the rice was done I just drain the water. The onions I sautéed in 2tbsp of peanut oil, and I must say the onions came out very flavorful.
It’s a very healthy dish; it was easy, and delicious. Bonus it’s very cost effective… I am happy I got my craving for Middle Eastern food. I will be adding this dish to my weekly menu again and try to make a spicy version…

Peanut butter and Almond Butter Banana Wheat Toast Today started off well I did my strength training workout although I did not want to do it at all. I am committed to doing it three times a week giving it all that I have. Today my workout only last 16 minutes it was the longest 16 minutes of my life. I was so happy to be done and be able to eat breakfast. I am really not looking forward to Wednesday. Gosh does strength training ever get easier???
Many of you know about my obsession with almond butter and banana on toast. It is so good!! I wish I could eat it all day every day. It really helps with my sugar cravings that I use to always get. Once I added nut butters to my diet I seem not to get them anymore… I also have been able to concentrate on my homework longer. I guess that’s the power of fats in a diet…
I wanted to try peanut butter and banana to see if I would enjoy it better then almond butter and banana. I decided to try both this morning and I must say almond butter and banana won!! The peanut butter just doesn’t bring out the flavor of the banana as well as almond butter. The almond butter provided more of a sweeter flavor. I guess I will be using my peanut butter for my PB&J sandwiches…

I bought a new jar of peanut butter today and decided to try something different. Instead of stirring the oil into the peanut butter I decided to save the oil and use it for something different. Peanut oil is pretty popular these days with a lot of health benefits, but it can be pretty expensive I decided to try something new.
I would keep the oil from the peanut butter and see what I could do with it. It can also lower the calorie content in the peanut butter. I tried to oil the pan I used to make triple seed granola bars let’s just say that was a bust…

It’s ok to Treat Yourself with Food

I am a huge foodie at heart I just can’t help it; all I can say is I have accepted it and I embrace it. I can honestly tell you that since I have changed my eating habits I have much enjoyment in what I eat and the source my food comes from. It can sometimes be a struggle but at this point I am happy to say it’s worth it.
Today I mustered the courage to finally try on a pair of jeans after two weeks. When I finally did put them on they were loose!!! I was so happy I didn’t know what to do, but jump up and down in excitement. I decided when I stared this journey I would treat myself for every mile stone I made. Last time I treated myself I decided to have chipotle, and regretted eating it about two hours later. This time I did not want to do that…
I went to the grocery store and decided to do some shopping. I had a game plan when I went in. I would stay away from the inner aisles and stick to the outer aisles; as I was walking through the outer aisles beautiful exotic fruit caught my eye. I always wanted to try some of the beautiful fruit, but my close-mindedness and very high prices got in the way. Today was not going to be one of those days I was going to treat myself to one of these lovely fruits…
I decided to try passion fruit; it was 3.00 dollars each and looked like a little bright plum. The juicy seeds were amazing they were tart but very addicting. I was so addicted that I decided to germinate the seeds and see if I can have my own passion fruit in the garden..

My Favorite Breakfast of the Week

Healthy Breakfast





Over ripened banana add it with almond butter on whole wheat toast… Who would have thought something so simple could be so good. I can tell you that I was in heaven. I would half to say this is the best breakfast I have tasted in a very long time.
It was so sweet and bursting with flavor the only thing missing was cinnamon. I forgot to add cinnamon and just had a boil egg. I wish I had another spotty banana because I would have a second I am really hooked on this I will be obsessing over it all day long…

Today workout was pretty simple I did not work out the way I wanted to. It felt like a drag. I did 30 second plank, up down planks, and squats… For the last two Fridays I have not been in the sprit to workout…
I have no clue what has gotten in to me since its only happens on Friday. I really need to find some Friday motivation…

Morning Recap

The weekend is almost here and I just can’t wait until I have a day to just sit and relax; sometimes we all just need to take a day to relax and enjoy the scenery. Thursday is always the busiest for me and it can be even more agonizing when you wake up late! Lucky I did not do that today I was up bright and early doing my sprints…

Does anyone else like dry oatmeal? I like to warm it up with a little water to take the moisture out. It’s just my weird way of eating oatmeal in the morning because it keeps me full all day. I am really not into creamy or supper wet oatmeal. Breakfast was hearty almond butter and banana oatmeal. I wanted to add fall flavors but I am still craving summer flavors, because summer is not over yet. I am gonna milk summer until I can’t no more..

Breakfast on the Go

It’s all rush for me this morning I over slept apparently my alarm clock decided not to wake me up this morning. I was lucky that I had enough time to work out, but not enough time to make breakfast. Its healthy breakfast on the go I had one boil egg, Naturalista bites, and a banana. I boiled the egg while I was working out killing to healthy birds with one stone.
I am in the market for another scale my scale decided it does not want to stay on the zero anymore. My technology is always outdated I always see a really cool gadget that has already been out for 6 months so a year. I guess it is time for me to upgrade and get a digital scale. I am hoping to get one this weekend or by next weekend. I am looking forward to seeing what I weigh ever since my scale decided to die I have not been recording my number. I am eager and scared at the same time it’s like the moment of truth…
